Gabriel de Leon-Mensah’s quiet life in Umbwe is shattered when he returns home to find his parents brutally murdered. Driven by grief and vengeance, he confronts Vetra, an emissary of Sin who reveals his connection to an ancient lineage tasked with opposing her order. Though gravely wounded, Gabriel’s dormant power awakens, transforming his weapon and enabling him to battle Vetra across supernatural terrain, including the blood-flooded slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Through visions of ancestral memory and the rediscovery of his “gift,” Gabriel ultimately overcomes her. Rejecting hatred, he offers forgiveness and chooses a new purpose: to gather the artifacts of Sin, resurrect the entity himself, and defeat it. He leaves behind his old identity, taking the name Raphael.

Detailed Plot Summary

Gabriel experiences strange heart palpitations and visions during his shift at a mountain souvenir shop. He gets sent home early and returns home to Umbwe only to discover a trail of blood leading into his family house. Inside, he finds his mother already dead and his father mortally wounded. In his final moments, his father urges Gabriel to “remember the past” and “defeat sin,” leaving the young man devastated but determined to avenge them.

Outside the house, Gabriel encounters Vetra, a hardened emissary of the cult known as the Children of Eden. She explains her long history with the order, her betrayal, and her mission to resurrect Sin using ancient artifacts tied to Gabriel’s lineage — the Olobukuns. Recognizing Gabriel’s latent power, she attempts to kill him before he can become a threat. Despite being fatally wounded, Gabriel’s “gift” manifests in a burst of golden light that heals him and transforms his axe, Fuerza Cacique, into a radiant weapon. The two engage in an intense duel, and Raphael faces off against Vetra’s ability to manipulate and travel through blood.

Their battle escalates onto the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, where thin air and Vetra’s blood-flooding technique push Gabriel to the brink of suffocation. In a vision of ancestral memory, he learns to draw strength and breath from his own heart rather than the air around him. Returning to the fight empowered, he wounds Vetra mortally. Instead of killing her outright, Gabriel offers forgiveness and invites her to help him oppose Sin, revealing his resolve to break the cycle of vengeance between their peoples.

Rejecting his mercy, Vetra mocks his idealism as Gabriel chooses a new path. He decides to gather the seven artifacts himself, resurrect Sin, and ultimately destroy the god to fulfill his father’s dying wish. Renouncing his former identity, he adopts the name Raphael and departs Kilimanjaro with renewed purpose, guided by ancestral memory and the steady light of his awakened gift.
