Nicole devises a strategy to implant a bookunai into one of Diego's squid constructs, luring Devious Lick to consume the bookunai and reveal its weak spot. While Diego distracts Devious Lick with his squids, Troy enters it from within and Nicole directs him towards its soul. While inside Devious Lick, Troy finds four children trapped inside. He experiences a flashback of his deceased friends and has an anxiety attack. Nicole calms Troy down and he is able to locate the soul and exorcise the curse.
